Network of sentinel hospitals reporting admissions
The Departments of Public Health have established at least one sentinel hospital in each HSE-Area, to report data on total hospital admissions, total emergency admissions and total respiratory admissions by age group on a weekly basis. Hospital admissions data act as a crude indicator for influenza activity. Data on hospital admissions are reported in the weekly influenza surveillance report.
